How it started.
Jackie started a YouTube channel in 2009 because women of color were missing from much of the beauty content and industry around them. In a 2025 NewBeauty interview, Jackie recalled living in Hawaii, adapting tutorials for a deeper complexion, and finally posting after encouragement from a best friend.
Finding a voice.
Makeup tutorials became a place to teach and to question which customers beauty brands were serving. Jackie’s work reached beyond reviews: the 2018 Too Faced collaboration added nine Born This Way foundation shades, followed by a 14-shade Anastasia Beverly Hills palette in 2019. The NAACP recognized Jackie with its first YouTuber of the Year award in 2018.

FORVR MOOD launched in 2020 with candles and silk accessories. Jackie and co-founder Denis Asamoah built the brand around fragrance and self-care. Lavishly Jackie also opened up a space for home, cleaning, and luxury lifestyle content alongside the makeup fans first came for.
