YouTubeHow it started.
Jeff grew up in Newfoundland and Labrador and studied biochemistry at Memorial University. Competitive lifting came before the videos: he won Mr. Junior Canada in natural bodybuilding in 2012 and held a Canadian bench press record in 2014.
Finding his voice.
He began posting workouts on YouTube in 2014, then built his following by making exercise research easier to understand. That mix of lifting experience and scientific education still shapes his work.
Beyond the channel.
His 2024 book, The Muscle Ladder, brings together training principles, nutrition guidance and 20 workout plans. He is also one of five co-equal owners of MacroFactor, whose nutrition app launched in 2021 and whose Workouts app followed in 2026.
A place to test ideas.
In September 2025, Jeff introduced his Muscle Lab: two gyms, research equipment and a podcast room. The tour includes DEXA, ultrasound and EMG equipment, plus a shoulder press muscle activation test with Will Tennyson.
