Asim grew up in Karachi and began finding listeners through covers of Western songs on the internet. His mother is actor Gul-e-Rana, and his father, Azhar Hussain, is a musician and keyboardist.

Coke Studio helped bring his voice to a wider audience. In 2016 he sang “Tera Woh Pyar” with Momina Mustehsan, with music directed by Shuja Haider and production by Strings. His 2018 single “Jo Tu Na Mila” paired his singing and composition with lyrics by Kunaal Vermaa and a video featuring Iqra Aziz.

His seven-track debut album, “Bematlab,” arrived in May 2024, with Talha Anjum appearing on the title track. In November 2025 he followed it with “Asim Ali,” his first independent album. Alongside his own releases, he continues singing for television, including “Meri Zindagi Hai Tu” with the Sabri Sisters.
