Mini bio

How it started.

Before the clubs and lasers, Gareth was learning piano at four and playing in bands at college. A trip to Ibiza in 1998 opened the door to dance music, and nights out while studying at Warwick University drew Gareth further into trance.

The breakthrough.

In summer 2002, Gareth made much of “Mistral” on a laptop in Provence, France. It began as a remix that its intended recipient did not like. Gareth turned it into an original, sent it to Paul van Dyk, and heard that he had played it at Nature One. Released under the name GTR, it became the early breakthrough.

Songs and shows.

Vocal collaborations became a recurring part of Gareth’s work, including “Concrete Angel” with Christina Novelli and “Saving Light” with Standerwick and HALIENE. Alongside albums such as Drive, THE LASERS and Analog, Gareth developed laser-led concerts. LSR/CITY made its live debut in Las Vegas in 2022; the 2025 CYBERPUNK concert film credits Gareth as both performer and a co-creator of its story.
