Mini bio
How it started.
Before YouTube, Erik Range worked in programming, web design and the games business. The name Gronkh came from a stone-troll character they played while working on Meridian 59. Their company’s history dates their first YouTube upload to April 2010.
The Minecraft years.
Minecraft became their breakout series. The first Let’s Play episode, “Alles auf Anfang,” arrived in 2010 and remains a place to start watching. From July 2014 to May 2016, Gronkh was Germany’s most-subscribed YouTube channel.
A shared adventure.
The work grew beyond solo playthroughs. Friendly Fire brings GRONKH together with fellow creators for charity, while H.O.R.D.E. began in April 2021 with Liza Grimm, Pandorya, PhunkRoyal and Marvin Clifford. Its first comic adaptation followed in November 2022.
Building places for games.
GRONKH.tv launched in August 2021 to give past streams a home. The Deutsche Indie Showcase grew out of an idea during GRONKH’s June 2024 Summer Game Fest streams and is produced and curated by 1UP. GRONKH is also CEO and founder of the Range Group.
