Mini bio
How it started.
Gwyneth grew up with actor Blythe Danner and producer Bruce Paltrow as her parents. Her early work included a pilot produced by her father and a part in Shout. After performing at the Williamstown Theatre Festival, she left college to pursue acting.
The film years.
Playing Emma Woodhouse in Emma brought her wider attention in 1996. Shakespeare in Love followed in 1998, and her performance as Viola de Lesseps earned the 1999 Academy Award for leading actress. Her later roles included Pepper Potts in Iron Man and substitute teacher Holly Holliday on Glee.
From a kitchen newsletter to goop.
In September 2008, she sent the first goop newsletter from her London kitchen with two recipes and BlackBerry photos. It grew into a lifestyle company covering food, beauty, fashion, travel and wellness. She also wrote four cookbooks, beginning with My Father’s Daughter in 2011.
Conversations and new chapters.
She launched the goop podcast in 2018 with Oprah Winfrey as her first guest. Alongside goop, she has continued to take on screen projects, including Josh Safdie’s 2025 film Marty Supreme. In 2026, she opened another space for recipes and recommendations on Substack.
