Mini bio
How it started.
Kara and Nate were high school sweethearts from Nashville who married in 2013. Kara taught school, while Nate ran a small printing business. Planning their honeymoon introduced them to collecting travel miles and points. On January 10, 2016, they left for what was meant to be one year abroad, beginning with a one-way flight to Tokyo.
Finding their audience.
The videos began as a way to share the trip with friends and family. Six months into traveling, they decided to try making the channel a business so they could stay on the road. Their audience grew sharply in 2018, the year they won the Shorty Award for Best in Travel. They completed their 100-country goal in December 2019 and released a documentary about the journey in January 2020.
A changing life on the road.
When international travel stopped in 2020, they bought a converted van and explored the United States. Their later videos brought together unusual accommodation, long journeys and physical challenges. In November 2024, they celebrated four million subscribers with a retrospective. Their 2026 uploads include a school-bus Mongol Rally series and a pregnancy announcement.
