Mini bio
How it started.
Kraig studied television and film arts in Buffalo, making side projects with friends while taking freelance video and photography jobs. After moving to New York, he shot weddings and built Wedding Film School, sharing tutorials and reviews that helped him make the move to full-time YouTube.
Finding the trail.
College vlogs, camera reviews and New York daily videos gradually gave way to travel films. In interviews, Kraig describes heading into the mountains after city travel videos began to feel repetitive. Solo hiking called for a quieter way of filming, with more space for the surroundings.
The breakthrough.
His July 2019 film Hiking 60 miles Alone in Iceland followed four days in Hornstrandir. He later told Outdoor Vitals that its success helped him commit to hiking films. The channel grew around journeys that viewers could enjoy from home or use to plan adventures of their own.
What he makes now.
Kraig continues to publish hiking films and longer ambient versions, with recent routes including Kyrgyzstan, the Dolomites and Lofoten. His project pages pair the films with free guides, maps and GPS downloads. He also takes selected commissions, including Apple’s Earth Day 2025 film, shot alone on iPhone 16 Pro in Madeira and Zion National Park.
