Mini bio
How it started.
Paul Jorgensen brought his interest in learning languages to YouTube. In January 2015, he published “Dilemma! Learn a "Useful" Language, or the Language that GRABS You?”, encouraging viewers to choose a language they felt drawn to. His early work also included a video about Hebrew, delivered in Hebrew.
A wider audience.
His May 2016 video “Basque - A Language of Mystery” drew attention from Basque media within days of release. It became an early calling card for Langfocus: an introduction to a language’s history and distinctive features.
The work today.
Langfocus combines language profiles, historical comparisons and experiments with real speakers. Paul’s recent work includes Arabic speakers trying to read Persian, a comparison of Modern and Biblical Hebrew, and the return of his Mystery Languages guessing series. On his website, he describes more than 20 years as a traveler, language learner and teacher.
