Mini bio
How it started.
Justin Kroma and Adam McArthur launched LankyBox in 2016. Their early calling card was Zero Budget: recreating elaborate music videos with everyday objects. In a 2019 SevenPie interview, they explained that the idea grew out of making videos without much money.
Finding their audience.
Their K-pop recreations brought them to the attention of the artists themselves. Looking back on 2018, they singled out reactions from KARD, Jessi, NeonPunch and Dreamcatcher. By January 2019, they said they were approaching one million YouTube subscribers.
Games and familiar characters.
Roblox gameplay became a central part of their work, alongside comedy and animation. Foxy, Boxy and their friends also moved beyond the screen: a Bonkers Toys partnership announced in 2022 brought the characters into a retail toy line.
Beyond YouTube.
Their work includes the pocket.watch series LankyBox Ultimate Mishmash and the 2023 graphic novel LankyBox: Epic Adventure!, illustrated by Alex Lopez. The book sends Foxy, Boxy and Rocky on a mission to rescue Adam and Justin from a hacker.
