Mini bio

How it started.

Meytal grew up in Israel, the youngest of seven children, and started drums at 18. After two years of military service, they moved to Los Angeles at 21 to attend the LA Music Academy. A car accident interrupted their studies, but they returned and graduated.

Finding an audience.

A 2009 “Toxicity” cover paired Meytal’s drums with Jennifer Lynn and Christine Wu on electric violins. Made as an America’s Got Talent audition, it found its audience on YouTube. Requests for more encouraged Meytal to keep filming solo drum covers.

Fans made the records possible.

Fans backed the debut MEYTAL album, Alchemy, on Kickstarter. Meytal self-released it in 2015, and it reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart. A second crowdfunded album, The Witness, followed in April 2019. Patreon supporters also help fund the videos.

A return to Rush.

In March 2025, Meytal shared “Limelight” and a behind-the-scenes vlog. The cover’s description offered a personal update about raising children and finding their way back to drumming.
