Mini bio
How it started.
Nouman traces his desire to understand the Quran to a Ramadan retreat at the Muslim Center of New York City as a teenager. In his own account, the frustration of hearing words he could not understand became a reason to keep studying. His serious Arabic training in the United States began in 1999 under Dr. Abdus-Samie.
From classroom to screen.
He taught Arabic at Nassau Community College before taking Bayyinah on full time in 2006. Traveling seminars, the Dream Arabic program and Bayyinah TV helped carry that classroom work to a wider audience. By 2017, Vanderbilt’s introduction to his campus talk documented more than 10,000 students taught through seminars and programs, alongside a growing online following.

His books extend that teaching in two directions. Divine Speech, co-written with Sharif Randhawa, looks at the Quran’s literary features. Revive Your Heart brings Quranic reflection into questions of spirituality, relationships, community and daily conduct.

Recent work has included live summer study programs, questions from Revealed app users and the From Jerusalem to Makkah video series. His lessons often connect a close look at Arabic words with familiar situations, giving fans a way to return to the text and keep learning.
