Mini bio
How it started.
Born in Morocco and raised in Canada, Imane started streaming as a high-school hobby at 17. She studied chemical engineering at McMaster University before making content her full-time work.
Finding her people.
League of Legends gameplay and commentary helped Pokimane find her audience. In 2017 she gained more than 450,000 Twitch followers, and the Shorty Awards named her its Twitch Streamer winner in 2018. She also helped form OfflineTV, bringing gaming creators together for comedy and videos about life together.
Beyond the gaming chair.
Fortnite became another part of her streaming story, followed by a cameo as herself in the 2021 film Free Guy. With LilyPichu, she created and hosted Sweet n’ Sour from 2024 until its farewell in April 2026. Her newer videos bring fans along for travel, house hunting, and conversations with musicians.
Giving back.
In 2020, she committed $50,000 to establish an esports scholarship endowment at UC Irvine. The university’s 2026 scholarship page still lists the Pokimane Scholarship, recognizing students who help build a welcoming campus gaming community.
