Mini bio

A place to pause.

By 2021, Reid was making Recess, a mental health podcast about healing, relationships, and the way we understand ourselves. Its short episodes offered listeners space to pause and consider one subject at a time. In The Reality of Healing: People Will Leave Us, he explored how pursuing change can reshape relationships.

Putting feelings into words.

His book Invisible Wounds brings together personal experience, research, and his graduate training in clinical mental health. It focuses on emotional neglect, with exercises and reflection questions alongside the writing. In a 2023 conversation with Gabby Wilkinson on Dear God, I’m Sad, he discussed leaving the beliefs of his white evangelical upbringing and the emotional challenges of faith deconstruction.

Making room for the writer.

In August 2023, Reid wrote candidly about burnout and wanting to move toward creative expression. In January 2024, he explained that All at Once would make room for the different parts of his interests: mental health, personal stories, Palestine, and writing for the pleasure of it. His later essays connect personal experience with questions of race, power, community, and care.
