Mini bio
How it started.
Rishab grew up in Delhi’s Rikhi Ram family of instrument makers. He began learning sitar at ten with his father, Sanjay Sharma, and made his stage debut in 2011. His official biography also names Parimal Sadaphal among his teachers.
Finding listeners online.
A viral Zara Zara reel helped introduce his playing to new listeners. On AfterHours with All About Eve, host Bani Anand recalled discovering him through that clip, then featuring his rendition of O Ri Chiraiya in 2020.
Finding a community.
He founded Sitar for Mental Health in 2020. In a PTI interview, he described sharing music on Instagram and Clubhouse after experiencing anxiety and depression following his grandfather’s death. Those sessions grew into a community and a touring concert series.

His catalogue includes Chanakya, Tandavam and Shiv Kailash (Live in Mumbai). Alongside these recordings, he keeps bringing the sitar to new settings: Sitar for Mental Health reached Singapore’s Esplanade and London’s Royal Albert Hall in 2026.
