Mini bio

A family game.

Alexandra and Andrea grew up with chess in the family. In an interview with Amazon, Alexandra traced it from her Romanian great-grandmother to her father, who taught her. Andrea followed her older sister into tournaments. Alexandra became a five-time Canadian National Girls Champion and a Woman FIDE Master; Andrea won the Canadian U8 girls championship in 2010 and the British Columbia women’s championship in 2015.

From a hobby to BotezLive.

Alexandra began streaming while studying at Stanford, then committed to it full time after working on a startup. Andrea became a regular cohost when the pandemic cut short her senior year of high school in 2020. Their audience grew with the online chess boom, and they signed with Envy Gaming that December.

Chess with room for everything else.

The channel pairs quick games and commentary with the sisters’ back-and-forth. Fans can follow Alexandra playing New York park regulars, Andrea facing a young opponent in a London chess shop, or both sisters heading out on a travel vlog. Alexandra has also moved into game production with Chess Arena, developed with Millions of Monsters.
