How it started.
Brandy’s story begins with singing in church in McComb, Mississippi. She signed her first record deal at fourteen, and her self-titled 1994 debut introduced listeners to “I Wanna Be Down” and “Baby.”
A voice, and a familiar face.
In 1996, she began starring as Moesha Mitchell. A year later, she played Cinderella opposite Whitney Houston’s Fairy Godmother. Her 1998 duet with Monica, “The Boy Is Mine,” spent 13 consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned the pair a Grammy in 1999.
