How it started.
Chlöe and Halle Bailey first performed around Atlanta, then found an audience through YouTube covers. Chlöe told TIME that their first upload was Beyoncé’s “Best Thing I Never Had,” filmed in their basement by their older sister. Their rendition of “Pretty Hurts” caught Parkwood Entertainment’s attention in 2013, according to the duo’s official biography.

The sisters released The Kids Are Alright in 2018, with Chlöe producing or co-producing most of its songs. They also joined the cast of Grown-ish and recorded its theme, “Grown.” Their second album, Ungodly Hour, followed in 2020. The duo earned five Grammy nominations across those two album cycles, including Best New Artist and Best Progressive R&B Album.
Finding her solo voice.
“Have Mercy” introduced Chlöe as a solo artist in 2021. Her debut album In Pieces arrived in March 2023, with Chlöe writing and co-producing the project. She told GRAMMY.com that making music on her own while Halle was overseas helped her build the courage to pursue a solo record. Her second solo album, Trouble in Paradise, followed in August 2024, with guests including Halle, Anderson .Paak, Jeremih and YG Marley.

Chlöe played aspiring singer Sam in the 2023 Peacock film Praise This and won an NAACP Image Award for the role. In June 2026, she released the collaborative mixtape Resurrection with Timbaland. Speaking to SiriusXM that month, she traced her production skills back to teaching herself Logic Pro with YouTube tutorials.
