Mini bio

How it started.

The band formed in Castrop-Rauxel, Germany, in 2010 and originally performed as Eskimo Callboy. Their debut album Bury Me in Vegas arrived in 2012, followed by We Are the Mess, Crystals, The Scene and Rehab.

Finding their stride.

Nico Sallach joined as a vocalist in 2020. That June, “Hypa Hypa” opened a new chapter: its mix of heavy music, dance hooks and comedy became a breakout for the band. “We Got the Moves” and “Pump It” followed in 2021.

A new name and a No. 1.

In March 2022 they changed their name to Electric Callboy after reconsidering the old name’s derogatory connotations. Later that year, TEKKNO reached No. 1 on Germany’s album chart. Their own Escalation Fest and international touring gave fans more places to gather.

The next chapter.

Their BABYMETAL collaboration “RATATATA” arrived in 2024. In 2026, TANZNEID brought that song together with collaborations involving Brawl Stars, The Offspring and Frank Zummo. They also contributed vocals to Yuki Hayashi’s tenth-anniversary version of “You Say Run” from My Hero Academia.

Trivia

  1. “TANZNEID” combines the German words Tanz, meaning dance, and Neid, meaning envy.
  2. “Hurrikan” mixes German schlager with deathcore; their label uses it as an example of how widely their sound travels.
  3. Before their music careers took over, Kevin Ratajczak worked selling Mercedes cars and Nico Sallach worked as an intensive care nurse.
