Mini bio
How it started.
Growing up in a military family meant moving often. Gabby took a first solo trip to Iceland at 17 and later studied in Dubai with scholarship funding. Packs Light began as a travel diary for family and friends, then grew into a resource for other young travelers.
Taking the leap.
Gabby left an engineering job in February 2020, just before the pandemic disrupted travel. That summer, a list of Black-owned San Diego restaurants spread widely online. Fans helped trace it back to Packs Light, bringing recognition from major outlets and attention to the businesses on the list.
Opening doors.
In 2020, Gabby helped cofound the Black Travel Alliance to improve representation and opportunity for Black travel creators. Packs Light School added travel courses and guides, while SeekPTO became a membership home for scholarships and funded travel programs. Today the work also includes speaking and advising brands about creators and their audiences.
