Mini bio
How it started.
GUNSHIP formed in 2014 as a new musical venture for Alex Westaway and Dan Haigh, who also played in Fightstar. Alex Gingell completes the trio. Their records draw on vintage analogue synthesizers and the film, television and video game sounds of the 1980s.
An early calling card.
Their self-titled debut arrived in July 2015. Tech Noir brought together a John Carpenter appearance, guest vocals by Charlie Simpson and a claymation video directed by Lee Hardcastle. GUNSHIP co-wrote the video with Hardcastle.
Building their world.
Dark All Day followed in 2018 and reached the UK Top 40. Their third album, Unicorn, arrived in September 2023 and reached No. 26 in the UK. Its collaborators include Lights, HEALTH, Gavin Rossdale, Carpenter Brut, Tim Cappello and John Carpenter.
Beyond the albums.
Their work extends to music videos, remixes and games. In 2026 they contributed Tell Me When the World Stops Ending to John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando, then released Core Breach (Built to Destroy) with Sonic Mayhem. An instrumental edition of Unicorn followed in October.
