Mini bio
Science and the stage.
Heather grew up drawn to both science and the arts. She focused her career on neuroscience and psychiatry, then found a route into television through public talks: after a panel, a Discovery Channel talent agent invited her to audition for Superhuman Showdown. She got the job and learned television production while traveling with the crew.
Making the brain understandable.
She went on to co-host Science Goes to the Movies and host NOVA’s Your Brain, bringing questions about perception and control to television audiences. Her work also reaches the stage: she co-wrote and performed Off the Top, about the neuroscience of improvisation, and Impulse Control.
Research meets conversation.
At Mount Sinai, her interests include impulsivity, compulsivity, consciousness and creativity. She combines research and clinical work with public conversations, including Science of Perception Box with Christof Koch, which launched in January 2025 and returned for a second season in August 2026.
