Mini bio
How it started.
Before beauty became her career, Huda studied finance and worked in recruiting in Dubai. After losing her job during the 2008 recession, she trained at the Joe Blasco Makeup Artistry School in Los Angeles. Back in Dubai, she began sharing makeup tips through her blog in 2010.
From posts to products.
Mona encouraged Huda to create and sell false lashes. The first line reached Sephora in 2013, with orders packed in Huda’s living room. She kept blogging and working as a makeup artist while learning to run the business. The 2016 Lip Contour launch helped her find a clearer direction for the brand.
A community with a voice.
Alongside tutorials and product development, Huda has spoken about the pressure created by edited beauty images. In 2021 she launched a petition asking brands to disclose retouching. TIME recognized her with an Impact Award in 2022.
The next chapter.
In June 2025, Huda bought back the minority stake held by TSG Consumer Partners. The company announcement named her sole owner, with husband Christopher Goncalo alongside her as co-CEO and sister Alya leading social strategy.
