Hungarian beginnings.

Ildi grew up in Budapest with a beauty culture shaped by thermal water, herbs, and hands-on care. In interviews, they describe wanting to bring that familiar approach to the United States, combining European traditions with newer skincare technology.

Building a studio.

Ildi opened the studio in 2007. In a letter marking its 18th anniversary, they recalled starting with little business knowledge and limited English, sustained by a love of caring for people. The letter also described a nine-month pandemic closure and the clients whose support helped the business return.

From treatment room to skincare line.

By December 2014, SELF was covering Ildi as Miranda Kerr’s facialist and reporting the launch of I. Pekar: a cleanser, moisturizer, and eye cream. Honey remains a recurring ingredient in the range. Today, Ildi also writes about products, facial treatments, and seasonal routines on the studio’s blog.
