Mini bio
How it started.
Nick Fisher’s Indigo Traveller channel began in 2016. In a later interview with Quentin Super, Nick traced a turning point to being in Nepal during the 2015 earthquake: seeing news coverage that did not match what Nick had witnessed helped spark an interest in showing places from the ground.
The films fans found.
The 2018 North Korea films became some of the channel’s most watched work. Inside North Korea (Surreal experience) has passed 15 million views. Later films took viewers onto the streets of Haiti and South Sudan, keeping conversations with local people at the centre of the journeys.
Fans helping out.
After meeting Andres, who ran a food project for children in Venezuela, Nick started a fundraiser. In the February 2021 interview, Nick said the campaign had grown from a $5,000 goal to more than $340,000. The work also led to contact with UNICEF New Zealand and a fundraising trip to Afghanistan.
