Mini bio
How it started.
Growing up in Los Angeles, Isaias experienced pollution and environmental injustice while his family lived in Section 8 housing. Those experiences shaped his interest in the environment and equity. He earned an environmental science degree at UC Berkeley and began bringing research and his own experiences into creative work.
Building an online classroom.
After co-creating Alluvia, a BIPOC environmental magazine, in 2018, he launched Queer Brown Vegan in November 2019. He explained academic ideas in approachable posts, connecting environmental justice with everyday life. The page grew into a full-time platform for education, storytelling, and public speaking. In January 2023, he joined Billie Eilish and seven other young activists for Vogue’s climate conversation.
Taking the lessons outside.
His Teaching Climate Together series brings viewers into conversations and field trips with scientists and community leaders. Its second season visits native-plant specialists, a mycologist, and community composters. He also serves on the advisory board for Yale Climate Connections. His next chapter is Dear Environmentalist, a debut book about climate, community, and building a more equitable environmental movement, scheduled for April 13, 2027.
