Mini bio

How it started.

Kaifi grew up in Lyari, Karachi, in a family connected to Balochi music. His father was a local singer who died while Kaifi was young. In an interview with FUCHSIA, Kaifi described working in shops and on construction sites, and spending some of his earnings on cassettes and instruments. Music was a way to carry his father’s legacy forward.

Finding his listeners.

He launched his YouTube channel in 2015 and began posting performance videos in 2016, starting with a cover of the Balochi song “Mani Tawe Dost.” Covers and original songs gave listeners a way into his music before his television breakthrough.

The breakthrough.

In 2022 he joined Eva B and Abdul Wahab Bugti on Coke Studio’s “Kana Yaari.” The song credits him as composer and co-writer. That same year, his Urdu song “Kahani Suno 2.0” reached a much wider audience and became associated with ARY Digital’s drama Mujhe Pyaar Hua Tha, which used it as its soundtrack.

Writing the next chapter.

His later work includes the solo singles “Mansoob” and “Jurmana,” the Coke Studio collaboration “Piya Piya Calling,” and “Fitrat” with Tulsi Kumar. He continues to write and produce his own releases, including “Daaman,” “Shikayat” and “Love Notes,” while also singing work by other writers and composers on “Muntazir.”
