Mini bio

How it started.

Karan grew up singing in school competitions and village Rabab Mangay gatherings. In his TNN interview, he traced his training to Ustad AR Anwar in Karachi from 2000 and Ustad Sher Jan from 2004 to 2008. He said his songs reached the market in 2008, with Mazegar and Da Da Baran Shpa bringing early recognition.

Poetry with a purpose.

His music makes room for the experiences of his community. In a 2016 Dawn interview, he described choosing poems about Pakhtun suffering, cultural loss and the need for peace. He also outlined a self-funded project to document artists and writers from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Fata.

A life of study.

Karan continued his education alongside music. In October 2021, he successfully defended his PhD thesis at the Pashto Academy, University of Peshawar, researching modern genres in Pashto poetic literature.

What he is making now.

His 2026 videos span the Farhang and Ahangar albums, alongside Urdu poetry in Diyaar E Ishq. The credits show how closely he shapes the work: he sings, composes and often directs, and writes lyrics for songs including Laarram and Pekhawar Khkoly Day.
