How it started.
Born in Honolulu and raised in Cincinnati, Mark began posting to YouTube in 2012. They had been studying biomedical engineering and chose to leave college to devote themselves to making videos. Early Amnesia playthroughs helped build the audience; Five Nights at Freddy’s became another defining series.
Letting fans choose.
Mark brought branching storytelling to the channel with A Heist with Markiplier in 2019 and In Space with Markiplier in 2022. Viewers choose what happens next. Alongside those productions, Mark co-hosts Distractible with longtime collaborators Bob Muyskens and Wade Barnes.
From the channel to the cinema.
Mark also starred in the television adaptation of The Edge of Sleep in 2024. Iron Lung followed in 2026 as their feature directing debut. They financed and distributed the film independently, while fans helped expand the theatrical release by asking local cinemas to book it.
