Mini bio

How it started.

Michelle grew up in Memphis and studied digital media and technology at Dartmouth. She joined the college cycling team after arriving with no competitive cycling experience, then went on to race professionally. After college, she worked as a video producer at BuzzFeed before leaving in 2016 to focus on her own channel.

Finding her format.

Challenge Accepted made training itself the story: the coaching, uncertainty, setbacks, and eventual attempt. Michelle takes viewers inside unfamiliar professions and physical challenges, from academy training to escape artistry. She told YouTube that making videos let her learn by doing and develop ideas without waiting for a studio to approve them.

A show built with viewers.

The series won the Streamy for Unscripted Series in 2022 and Show of the Year in 2023. Its projects have grown to include a feature-length taekwondo challenge, a recreation of Tom Cruise’s plane hang, and a three-part marathon series. In 2025, Michelle successfully petitioned for Challenge Accepted to enter the Primetime Emmy hosted nonfiction ballot.

Beyond her channel.

Michelle also hosted Karma, the children’s adventure competition series that premiered on HBO Max in June 2020. Her work brings the same interest in learning through experience to television and conversations with other creators.
