Mini bio

How it started.

Momina says her musical journey began in college, without an initial plan to make it a career. She studied biomedical engineering and applied mathematics and statistics at Stony Brook University. Early recordings include “Pi Jaun” with Farhan Saeed in 2012 and “Awari,” sung with Adnan Dhool for Ek Villain in 2014.

The performance that introduced her to millions.

Her 2016 Coke Studio debut paired her with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan on “Afreen Afreen,” revisiting Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s song. “Tera Woh Pyar,” with Asim Azhar, became another signature duet. She later joined Arjun Kanungo for “Aaya Na Tu” and Bilal Saeed for “Baari.”

A voice beyond the songs.

Alongside music, Momina has spoken about women’s rights, cyberbullying and mental health. In her Stony Brook interview, she described encouraging girls to pursue programming and science. BBC’s 100 Women, Forbes’ 30 Under 30 Asia and her university’s 40 Under Forty have recognized her work.
