How it started.
A New Yorker now living in Los Angeles, Nicol built a beauty audience through tutorials that mixed practical teaching with a willingness to be silly. In an interview with Erika Vieira, Nicol described leaving a medical assistant job to make content full time.
Finding an audience.
The Beauty and the Vlog interview documented a rise to one million Instagram followers in about a year. Tagging the products and tools in their videos helped Nicol get noticed by cosmetics companies and build collaborations.
Making beauty products.
Nicol’s collaborations include a six-piece Tarte brush set in 2016, a 20-shade Violet Voss eyeshadow palette in 2017 and three scented Smashbox Primer Waters in 2018.
Life alongside the makeup.
The channel continues to make room for product tests, everyday routines and personal conversations. In 2026, Nicol shared a trying-to-conceive story and launched Books & Beauty, bringing book reviews and theories into the makeup chair.
