How it started.

Raised in North Carolina, Payton taught themself guitar through YouTube tutorials and began writing songs around age nine or ten. At 12, they posted a cover of Justin Bieber’s “Love Yourself”. In a later interview with The Teen Magazine, Payton traced their social media beginnings to 2015 and their first substantial exposure to December 2018.

Finding a voice.

“Love Letter”, released in April 2020, turned feelings from an abruptly ended relationship into a debut single. Payton told Digital Journal that releasing it helped build their confidence. They followed with “Habits”, written in a bedroom studio in North Carolina, and explored a grittier alternative sound on “Hard to Breathe”.

Building a music catalog.

After singles including “RICH BOY”, Payton released the six-song debut EP “insomnia” in July 2022. In their Flaunt interview, they described a project moving through a difficult relationship toward closure. Later releases include “CONTROL” in 2023 and “CallMe!” and “RightNow! / Ready!” in 2025.
