Mini bio

A reason to go.

Peter grew up in Vermont and traces his love of American road trips to a three-and-a-half-month van journey with a friend after high school. His curiosity about the wider world began even earlier: as a child, he asked for a book about the Soviet Union. In 2002, he set off on a two-year journey through 50 countries.

Learning by living there.

In 2017, Peter introduced Fish Out of Water, a video series made while staying with a family displaced by war in the Ukrainian countryside. Living beyond his familiar language and routines became a way to learn about people and let viewers share that experience.

Finding an audience.

Peter has said that posting every week helped the channel grow. His 2020 visits to Brooklyn’s Hasidic community with Shloime Zionce brought a wider audience into that world. In an Ami Magazine interview, he described using a small GoPro to keep conversations casual and help people feel comfortable inviting him into their homes.

America, one conversation at a time.

His work now follows locals through places such as Amish country, Appalachia, and remote Alaska. Familiar videos include Invited To Amish Dinner and his road trip through former coal country, Poorest Region of America. In 2026, he brought his American travels to the page with Your Fellow Americans, which his publisher identifies as a New York Times bestseller.
