Mini bio
How it started.
Abigail launched Philosophy Tube in 2013 after higher university tuition fees made education harder for her friends to afford. She began by filming philosophy lessons in her bedroom, with the aim of sharing what she was learning for free.
Finding the show’s voice.
The lessons grew into theatrical essays with characters, costumes, sets and a crew. In her 13th-anniversary post, Abigail recalled considering ending the channel before VidCon in 2018. Meeting Lindsay Ellis helped renew her creative ambition and led to an introduction to Nebula’s Dave Wiskus.
An unmistakably personal stage.
In January 2021, Abigail publicly came out as a trans woman with Identity: A Trans Coming Out Story. It became one of the channel’s best-known works, combining personal experience with philosophy.
Beyond the essays.
Abigail also acts and writes for stage and screen. Her debut play The Prince opened at Southwark Playhouse in 2022; Dracula’s Ex-Girlfriend followed as her debut short. She writes, produces, presents and directs Philosophy Tube, supported by crowdfunding.
