Mini bio

How it started.

Pía grew up in Barcelona, borrowing their mother’s camera on family trips before receiving a compact Minolta from their grandfather. They later studied film in Barcelona, where photography and darkroom classes gave that early interest more room to grow.

Finding a way in.

Photography became more serious after the move to Mexico City. Pía told Sauce that sharing pictures on social media brought invitations from magazines to shoot stories or publish their work. Those editorial opportunities eventually led to commercial projects.

A decade in a book.

Flechazo, their 2022 debut monograph with Homecoming Gallery, grew from photographs made across Mexico over ten years, beginning in 2012. It brings together markets, people, landscapes and everyday encounters from a place that became central to their work.

Places, days and memory.

Loose Joints published Días in 2024, bringing photographs from different journeys together through motion, blur and changing light. That year, Homecoming Gallery also presented Yūgen, a collection of photographs and painted photographs made in Japan between 2019 and 2024.
