Mini bio

How it started.

Renee grew up in Melbourne and worked as a speech therapist before travel photography became a career. After winning green cards through the diversity visa lottery in 2014, Renee and husband Matthew moved to Colorado. Weekend adventures there gave the blog its start in early 2016; by midyear, both had left their day jobs to pursue photography.

The trip that became a book.

In 2017, Renee and Matthew spent seven months visiting all 59 US national parks designated at the time. Their journey became Roaming America, published by Lannoo in 2019, combining photography, stories from the road and practical advice for planning a national parks adventure.

A place to come home to.

After extended travel and burnout, the couple made Seattle their home base in late 2017. Renee’s guides now range from national parks to city breaks, with the same aim of helping readers feel confident getting out and exploring.
