Mini bio

How it started.

Rosalía grew up in Sant Esteve Sesrovires, near Barcelona. As a young teenager, hearing flamenco through friends drew them into the music. They studied with the teacher El Chiqui for eight years before releasing Los Ángeles with guitarist and producer Raül Refree in 2017.

The breakout.

El Mal Querer began as a final-year project at the Catalonia College of Music, drawing on a 13th-century text. Released in 2018, it carried flamenco into a world of electronic production, R&B and hip-hop. “Malamente” became its calling card, and the album won the 2019 Latin Grammy for Album of the Year.

Building new worlds.

For MOTOMAMI in 2022, Rosalía wrote, performed, recorded and produced an album that moved further into pop and reggaeton. It won a Grammy in 2023. LUX followed in 2025, with Rosalía as executive producer and the London Symphony Orchestra among its collaborators; the expanded digital edition arrived in April 2026.
