Mini bio
How it started.
After a spell in Australia, Mike Kerr returned to England and began rehearsing with Ben Thatcher in 2013. Their early shows included a Brighton bar gig for friends. Kerr’s effects and amplifiers let his bass fill both the low end and the space usually taken by a guitar.
The breakthrough.
A Royal Blood T-shirt worn by Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders at Glastonbury in 2013 helped put their name in front of fans. Their self-titled debut reached UK No. 1 in 2014, and they won British Group at the 2015 BRIT Awards. How Did We Get So Dark?, Typhoons and Back to the Water Below each followed it to the top of the UK album chart.
Back together in the room.
After their 2024 touring, Mike and Ben took time to return to everyday life in Brighton. Their 2026 return brought Ten Over Ten, Swallow The Bomb and Dead Company, with a fifth album of the same name scheduled for November 6.
