Mini bio

How it started.

Sam grew up in Toronto and began experimenting with his brother’s point-and-shoot camera as a child. Editing clips inside the camera introduced him to the possibilities of filmmaking. He taught himself, and Kolder Creative dates the start of his career to 2014.

Finding an audience.

Touring with The Chainsmokers became an early opening into professional filmmaking. He later became head of video at Beautiful Destinations and worked with brands including YouTube, Canon, DJI and Gymshark. Sam identifies My Year 2016 as a film that helped bring his work to a wider audience.

The personal films.

Hey Tim honors his brother, whose death changed the direction of Sam’s life. The film combines travel footage with animation by Howard Wimshurst. In its description, Sam says he spent more than 500 hours editing it and thanks Jakob Burkhardt for helping shoot footage over two years.

Sharing the process.

Through Kolder Creative, Sam teaches the editing and filmmaking skills behind his work. His recent output includes a Socotra travel film, a collection of drone shots, and mobile filmmaking projects with vivo, followed by a joint masterclass in October 2026.
