Mini bio

How it started.

Growing up in Charleston, West Virginia, Sierra sang in school choirs and made up songs. In her twenties, bar gigs and travels around the US opened up a life in music. Busking brought in more money than the bars and helped her feel more comfortable performing for an audience.

Finding her people.

She built connections in Nashville while traveling between cities including New Orleans and Seattle. Local shows caught the attention of producer and Rounder A&R executive Gary Paczosa. She signed with Rounder in late 2019, after independently releasing Pretty Magic Spell and Washington by the Sea.

The records that opened doors.

Long Time Coming arrived in 2021, bringing her mix of musical traditions to Rounder. Trail of Flowers followed in 2024, with production from Eddie Spear and Gary Paczosa and appearances by Lukas Nelson and Nikki Lane. Its songs move between bluegrass, old-time music and honky-tonk.

A growing circle.

Trail of Flowers won Americana Album of the Year in 2024. At the 2025 Grammys, Sierra won all four of her nominated categories, with honors for the album, “American Dreaming” and “Lighthouse.” She also won Americana Artist of the Year in both 2024 and 2025.
