Mini bio

How it started.

Simi grew up in Lagos and began her recording career in gospel, releasing Ogaju in 2008. Before a label deal, she made her Restless EP with a USB microphone and a refurbished laptop. She learned mixing from YouTube, while a friend taught her mastering.

Finding her audience.

“Tiff” brought her wider recognition in 2014. Her 2017 album Simisola followed with songs including “Joromi” and “Smile for Me,” then won Album of the Year at the 2018 Headies. Alongside singing, she built a career behind the desk, mixing and mastering most of Adekunle Gold’s 2016 album Gold.

Making it her own.

She launched Studio Brat in 2019. With Lost and Found in 2024, she returned to love stories and a sense of herself that had become harder to hold onto after motherhood. She mixed the album and produced its title track, with collaborators including Aṣa, Tiwa Savage, Lojay and LADIPOE.
