Mini bio
How it started.
Sleep Token emerged in London in 2016, releasing their debut EP One independently. Two followed through Basick Records in 2017. Vessel performs behind a mask, and the band’s mythology presents their songs as offerings to a deity called Sleep.
Building their world.
Their first album, Sundowning, arrived in 2019. Its songs appeared every two weeks at sundown in Britain, each with its own emblem and visualizer. This Place Will Become Your Tomb followed in 2021, continuing their movement between piano, heavy guitars and pop.
The breakout.
The Summoning helped bring a much wider audience to Sleep Token in 2023. That year’s Take Me Back To Eden completed the trilogy begun with Sundowning. It later won Best Album at the Heavy Music Awards and Top Hard Rock Album at the Billboard Music Awards.
Into Arcadia.
Even In Arcadia followed through RCA in May 2025 and debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200. A sold-out US arena tour followed, then an instrumental edition in May 2026. The masks and stage names remain part of how the band presents its music.

Trivia
- Vessel told Metal Hammer that the markings on his mask represent the initials ST in ancient runes.
- Sundowning’s release began on 20 June 2019 with The Night Does Not Belong To God, followed by a song every two weeks at sundown.
