Mini bio
How it started.
Mateo Bowles grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and built Ayo & Teo with his brother Ayleo. They practiced at home, learned from watching dancers including Les Twins and Kida the Great, and uploaded a school talent-show performance in 2014.
The reverse.
Their dance challenges turned familiar moves backwards. Sony Music says Usher’s choreographer discovered the brothers through their reverse step. They danced in Usher’s “No Limit” video and joined him at the 2016 BET Awards.
From dancers to recording artists.
Their own song “Rolex” became their 2017 breakout. Its DAPS-directed video brought their dance style to the front, with Usher appearing alongside them. The duo followed it with work including “Last Forever” and “Fly N Ghetto.”
Behind the beat.
Teo also produces music. The duo’s official 2025 SoundCloud uploads credit him with production on “1% Freestyle” and co-production with @bigpuffpuff on “Real Chill.”
