Mini bio

How it started.

Tessa grew up in Ashland, Oregon and began daily YouTube vlogs in 2007. As Meekakitty, she built a community by talking to the camera and sharing her life. In a 2023 interview, she remembered being drawn to how a stranger’s videos could make someone across the world feel close.

Finding her songs.

Her first album, Maybe Trapped Mostly Troubled, arrived in 2014. “Crush” followed in 2018 and became a breakout song, leading into the 2019 album Bad Ideas. Her music also brought collaborations with Cavetown on “Smoke Signals” and Will Joseph Cook on “Gummy.”

Being her own cheerleader.

MY GOD! arrived in July 2023. Tessa told The Harvard Crimson that she had changed how she spoke to herself since Bad Ideas and hoped listeners would feel more confident, capable and able to cheer themselves on. In January 2026, she began the next chapter with the Cavetown-produced “Knowing” and news of There Will Be Joy.
