Mini bio

How it started.

Before Everyday Astronaut, Tim worked as a photographer in Cedar Falls, Iowa, with weddings paying most of the bills. In 2013, he bought a Russian high-altitude flight suit at auction for $330. His playful astronaut photographs became a viral Instagram project in 2014.

Finding his format.

He moved into full-time YouTube work in 2017 to explain the spaceflight topics he was learning about. Rocket explainers and interviews became central to Everyday Astronaut, including his Raptor engine deep dive and Starbase tour with Elon Musk.

A lunar invitation.

Tim was selected for the dearMoon crew in 2022. The proposed Starship flight around the Moon never flew: the project announced its cancellation on June 1, 2024, citing uncertainty about its launch schedule.

Celebrating the people behind the missions.

His Astro Awards grew into a live event in Austin, bringing fans together to recognize space missions and the teams behind them.
