Mini bio
How it started.
Tim started violin at three and picked up his dad’s guitar at ten. In an AAPI Musicians interview, Tim described staying in an orchestra outside school until eighteen, then attending the University of North Texas for a semester before pursuing music.
Finding an audience.
Polyphia formed in Texas in 2010. Their guitar playthrough for Impassion, from 2013’s Inspire EP, became an early YouTube breakthrough. The 2014 debut album Muse brought pop, funk and electronic influences into their guitar writing.
The songs fans return to.
G.O.A.T., from New Levels New Devils, and Playing God show Tim’s work as both guitarist and co-producer. The official videos put the guitar parts at the center, with Playing God bringing nylon-string guitar into Polyphia’s sound.
A new chapter.
In 2026, Tim released the solo track Original Sin, while Polyphia released their fifth album, Be Not Afraid. Tim also has signature Fishman pickups and a Neural DSP guitar plugin, extending the studio side of their work.
