Mini bio

How it started.

Scott Hansen began Tycho in 2001 while also building a life in graphic design. The project grew from a part-time solo pursuit into a band. His visual work as ISO50 remains part of the same creative world.

The records that opened things up.

Dive, Awake and Epoch form a trilogy tracing the move from downtempo synth music toward fuller live instrumentation. Epoch brought Tycho a first Grammy nomination in 2017. Weather followed in 2019, with Saint Sinner’s vocals taking a central role, and earned another nomination in 2020.

A return to electronic roots.

For Infinite Health, Hansen put drums, breaks and rhythm at the center of the writing again. Grizzly Bear’s Chris Taylor co-produced, with Zac Brown on guitar and Rory O’Connor on drums. The album connects that electronic approach with memories of growing up near Sacramento’s American River.
