Mini bio

How it started.

Cousins Akelle and Haile had made music together since childhood. Haile was producing a project for Akelle when Louis featured on a track. Their first session as a trio produced In2, and the song brought them together as WSTRN.

The breakthrough.

In2 reached No. 4 on the UK Singles Chart in 2015. The following year, WSTRN won the MOBO Award for Best Newcomer. Their blend of singing, rap and Caribbean influences continued through Txtin’ with Alkaline, Be My Guest with Fireboy DML and the WSTRN Season mixtapes.

The sound of home.

The trio connect their sound to growing up in multicultural West London and hearing reggae and soca at home. Their Jamaican, Grenadian and Guyanese family backgrounds help explain the Caribbean thread running through the music.

Room to grow.

Recent releases also give fans a closer look at the individual members. Louis Rei released Exhale in June 2025, while Haile’s solo EP Spare Room arrived that November. In interviews, Haile explained that they had chosen to explore their individual careers while keeping WSTRN together.
