Mini bio

How it started.

Harrison Armstrong grew up in New Moston, north Manchester. In a GQ interview, he traced his first rhymes to joking with a friend about a rapping scene in Scary Movie. They traded lines on WhatsApp before he started trying them over grime instrumentals on YouTube.

The breakout.

Early videos and local freestyles helped him find an audience. Then “Straight Rhymez” took off in 2018, while he was studying sports science at college. The freestyle made his Manchester voice familiar well beyond home, and releases including AitcH2O and Polaris followed.

Closer to home.

His 2022 debut album, Close to Home, put family and Manchester at its centre. “My G”, with Ed Sheeran, is a tribute to his younger sister, while “Baby” draws on Ashanti. In 2023, fans voted him the BRIT Awards’ Hip Hop/Grime/Rap Act winner.

The next chapter.

For his second studio album, 4, Aitch told Apple Music he wanted to bring back an old-school rap feeling. The 2025 record includes AJ Tracey, Tamera and Anne-Marie. His 2026 releases have included “RMB (Ring My Bell)” and collaborations with Tamera and Calum Scott.

  1. “Aitch” spells out the letter H, the first letter of Harrison. He told Capital XTRA that people also call him that away from music.
  2. His dad suggested the title Polaris. Aitch liked its connection to the North Star and his own northern roots.
  3. He was studying sports science at college when “Straight Rhymez” took off.
  4. The first rhymes he described to GQ began as WhatsApp jokes inspired by Scary Movie.
